These colorful little row boats were fun to paint, but also a challenge because of the perspective. I especially liked adding the shadows to try and make things like the oars and buoys pop. I added a sleepy little kitty cat just to give it some life!

Following an idea from Ernst Udet, these rescue buoys (named „Generalluftzeugmeister“) were placed in the British Channel to pick up downed pilots. Equipped with cognac, cigarettes, a kitchen, two beds etc, the buoys saved various life’s during the war.
