Top 20 C64 Firebird Games – No.10
Io
One of the best-looking games on the C64, Io has outstanding graphics by the brilliant Bob Stevenson. But it’s more than just a pretty face. It also boasts an excellent David Whittaker soundtrack and tough but rewarding gameplay.

BATTLE OF THE PLANETSというZX,C64,Amstradのゲーム。絵的に大丈夫かと思いきやガッチャマンの英名が同タイトルで箱裏にディストリビュータのコピーライツあるので公式ガッチャマンゲーム。

Cute Australian C64 platformer. (The 1994 year is incorrect; a preview of the game was released that year.)
Controls: Space at crackscreen, numpad 84620. Be patient during unskippable intro.
Experimenting a lot in this one, but mainly trying out double-wide pixels with a not-so-mathy sort of palette (The work I've seen that's in D-W is either in CGA, C64, etc.) I also wanted to try a no-dither style, so this is all Hatching!

My Favourite C64 Coders No.8
David Collier
As Ocean/Imagine’s main man on the C64, Dave made some of the most-played and best-loved games of the 1980s including Arkanoid, Combat School, Green Beret, Hyper Sports, Rambo, Target Renegade, Terra Cresta & Yie Ar King Fu. Blimey.
Exodus was an ambitious war game, described as a mix of Elite, Civilization and Traveler. Due for release on Amiga and C64, developer Paul Clansey provided GTW with disks of the C64 edition to preserve, revealing also why it never saw the light of day.

@C64Chronicles @zappedtothe One of the best games on the C64, without a doubt. 👍
It took some practice to get good enough at the platform game side of it, so you still had time to assemble the punch-cards at the end. 🤓
@Retro_CAD @barry_barcrest @zappedtothe Yeah, the jousting was always hard. I only ever got far with Jousting on the C64, where the joystick controls allowed me to position the lance in the right place most times. The timing was still a bugger. And it helped to have the guy strong in jousting. ..But you didn't need it.
@zappedtothe Okay, I gotta check out what you guys think of it.
I played it a ton, back in the day, both on my C64, and later on the Amiga. The C64 is definitely the more complete game. And with all that excellent artwork and music it's gorgeous. ..It's just that jousting that gets me. 🤔
