Eric Ravilious ‘Mount Caburn’, watercolour, 1935.
‘Ravilious may have been sitting at his worktable when he painted the view north towards Mount Caburn.' Read more about this rather good painting at our website https://t.co/qCKgwIT1j9
3) A particularly fine depiction of the Caburn hillfort #Sussex is also by a favourite artist: Eric #Ravilious
Here he was looking out from his studio in 1935, a view which, minus the horse-drawn ploughs, is pretty much the same today 😍

One of the finest depictions of the #Caburn / #MountCaburn #hillfort #EastSussex is also by one of our favourite artists, Eric Ravilious, a view from his studio in 1935 which, minus the horse-drawn ploughs, is as just as familiar today 🤩

I've been missing our trips out to the @sdnpa #SouthDowns of #Sussex.
The English artist Eric @Ravilious1942 (1903-42) grew up in Sussex and painted many landscapes here. Here are:
1. The Cuckmere Haven at Exceat
2. The Long Man of Wilmington
3. Mount Caburn
4. Beachy Head

One of my favourite paintings of a #hillfort is by one of my favourite artists: Mount Caburn (1935) by #EricRavilious – a view of #EastSussex (which, minus the horse-drawn ploughs, is as just as familiar today) that #Ravilious had from his studio
