Finally got a chance to sit down to read the digital edition of HEAT by Jean Wei, published by PEOW, which is a lovely, tender piece of comics. A wonderfully low-key, loving piece of comics with gorgeous cartooning. I loved it.

Metal Gear Solid and Halo Reach displayed that you can have high fidelity caricatures - you can balance the seriousness of photo-reality with the expression of cartooning.

I think 343 should pursue something like this and ditch the overly sterile photorealism pursuit.

Lara Kaminoff’s HOW TO PICK A FIGHT is an absolute delight. An incredibly charming comic fit for all ages, with a genuinely wonderful story and tremendous cartooning. I was smiling the whole time I was reading it; a delight in every possible way.

I really enjoyed NEW ATOMS by Kiku Hughes, available as part of the ShortBox Comics Fair; it's a very neat vignette about the desire for healing as an external force, wonderfully conceived and realized with some gorgeous cartooning. A cool bit of form following function.

Just got a chance to read A TOMATO IN CHAINS by Michael Furler (), offered in the ShortBox Comics Fair, and I liked it a lot—a striking balance between ironic whimsy and genuine sincere cleverness, with some really lovely cartooning. Just a whole lot of fun.

Finally got a chance to sit down and read GARDENER, and it is a lovely book. A fun story about global-scale endings and beginnings, with some gorgeous cartooning. Having read the first three issues previously, it's great to see how this story has developed.

I really liked Ellinor Richey’s JUNKWRAITH. It’s a sweet, charming story about the way the parts of your identity and surroundings come together to form a whole you, with some really striking, gorgeous cartooning. A very strong debut.

Jean-Claude Mézières RIP one of the giants of Europan cartooning. His work on Valerian, from mid-sixties until around the mid-eighties is amongst the greatest, grounded SF comics ever made. Farewell, Imaginaut.
