Four sketches below The Cheviot
Watercolours, oil pastel, charcoal, pencil on cartridge paper. Four seasons in one day
A trip up to lovely Alwinton today in the Cheviot hills, always a good bet for a Whinchat sighting, brief views of one today, they blend in really well with upper valley flora, watercolour sketch. Have a good night and long weekend all 👍🍻
‘Looking West’, Acrylic on stretched canvas, 33"x23" inches.
The view looking across a field near Morwick with the outline of the Cheviots cast a subtle blue-green, backlit by the sunset. The first 'big picture', I did for my exhibition, it opened up a new way of working for me.
Sheep! Scottish Blackface, Merino (of outdoor clothing industry fame,) Cheviot and Black Welsh Mountain sheep. 😊 Border collies, naturally, are next!

A beautiful fox at sunset in the Cheviot hills. I sat watching my local badgers and it ran behind me, off up the hill to find some dinner. #FoxingDay #KeepTheBan
Anyone had any snow yet? When I was out on Saturday I could see some of the tops of the Cheviots in the distance. Very festive. ❄️ Have a good day everyone. I’m starting my Christmas shopping today (yes, I did say starting 😱). #illo_advent
My new exhibition is ‘Personal Sanctuary' showcases paintings inspired by the Jersey coastline, nature’s beauty and the transformational power of the sea. PV is 6 Dec 5.30-8pm. Kindly sponsored by Quilter Cheviot. 10am to 6pm weekdays from 9-24 December or by appointment.
Grounded on my week off when a sneeze put my back out ! Should be ok to get out for some inspiration next few days though, meanwhile I dreamt up this watercolour portrait of a young Cheviot Raven which kept me occupied 👍
