One of my old street sketches from the early '90s. This shows St Edward's Passage, Cambridge, one of several favourite places to paint. David's the venerable bookshop now only has a shop on the other side of the churchyard and the Arts Theatre restaurant lost all its quirkyness.

When churchyards yawn & hell itself breathes out
Contagion to this world; now could I drink hot blood,
And do such bitter business as the day
Would quake to look on”

To be haunted by the Banshee one must belong to the old Irish families like the MacCarthys, O’Neills, O’Rileys, O’Sullivans, O’Reardons, O’Flahertys.. She never leaves nor forgets them till the last member has been gathered to his fathers in the churchyard.
