The coblynau are the Welsh version of the Knockers. They are short and squat, and have trademark yellow and red spotted handkerchiefs on their heads. When not mining, they love to dance into the night. (Art: Alan Lee)

'Coblynau' are a type of Fairy that live deep under the Earth, in mountain caves and fresh water wells.
They have incredibly large glowing eyes and enormous bat-like ears to help them navigate the deep underground caverns.

Using these two pics to introduce how Agnes & Frieda met. In 2000, 2 year old Frieda was put in 14 year old Agnes's arms, putting the young teen in a motherly role for the first time. The then-Head Cook, Melville the Coblynau, would later be replaced by her.
