#OtD 23 Mar 1931 Indian revolutionary socialists Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev Thapar and Shivaram Rajguru were executed by the British. While opposing British colonialism, they also advocated working-class revolution against both British and Indian capitalists
Avatar The Way of Water was so incredibly good. It was worldbuilding at it’s finest. There was commentary the whole movie on the impact of colonialism, parental/child relationships, the psychology of being a mixed race couple/child, & importance of living with nature 1/2
The roots of modern fascism lie with the tyrannies of colonialism, with the horrors of racist, white supremacism, with the brutalities of patriarchy, & with capitalist exploitation. We can't take the resurgence of the right for granted we must fight back.

Latest on #Excalibur #60 talks Tarzan: “If you’ve never read Tarzan—it is centrally about race, colonialism, and eugenics. It's the story of a white baby who gets dropped in the jungle and because he’s white, he naturally becomes king.” -@chrismaverick

Gusto kong mambasag ng trip so here's something:
Pinoy Pokemon fans clinging to the belief that Lechonk was "named after the Filipino dish" is the perfect example of desperate need for validation, internalized colonialism, and plain ignorance :)

Red, Green, and Blue Knights. I took inspiration from many different time periods such as World War 1, 1500’s Spanish colonialism, and medieval Europe.
Ahhh algorithms never tell me when awesome authors publish their new books! Non-binary protagonists, space colonialism, etc!
Expect to find this and more when I pop up Queer Comics Peddler in Ypsilanti, MI Saturday 2/19/22!

3/ In my community here in Kenya 🇰🇪 we have cracks from colonialism, corruption, winner take all politics, bad governance plus we have issues tied to violent crime, violent extremism & also ethnic violence every five years during our elections.
@plcphd This issue goes out of it way to reminds us a dark and deadly history for African Americans. In some ways it goes by so quickly, but each panel is filled with a complex history that speaks to colonialism, slavery, and power. @MSUMuseum #CrusadingInColor
Indigenous people have and continue to resist in the face of colonialism, racism and rampant violence. They have risen up. We rise with them and stand with them to push for a nation and a world where their sovereignty and their safety is protected.

Always suspicious of Kaiju fans who dislike politics and react to it like the plague, Gojira is literally an anti ☢ political statement and Kong Skull Island is explicitly anti war and anti colonialism, not to speak of Mothra and Pacific Rim who's themes are about environment
This is probably Brando's most political film: a tale of the sugar trade, colonialism, imperialism, slavery, racism, rebellion, duplicity, and deceit.
Dir. by Gillo Pontecorvo (1969), and also part of @criterionchannl's Ennio Morricone showcase. #NowWatching #Cinema #Caribbean
If you are interested in the intersection of feminism and environmentalism and anti-colonialism, may I suggest this new movie.
It's called Wolfwalkers, and it's made by the same folks who made Song of the Sea. I'm obsessed.
Works by Denver-based artist Suchitra Mattai, 2010s-20s, who pulls from her multi-national background (born in Guyana to Indian parents, raised in Canada/US) to address themes of immigration and colonialism, mixing eclectic materials like thread, bindis, and vintage ephemera
@RileyGryc Mark Russel's Flintstones run is a prime example of this as he used the Flinstones' original approach to parodying 60s(?) households and way of life and applied to the modern day, dealing with stuff like marriage, colonialism, imperialism, and populism
We're live on YouTube w/ Karen Sánchez-Eppler + @rkmiron for a conversation abt how a forgotten 19thC play was used to propagate white supremacy and settler colonialism, w/ implications for our own day. https://t.co/Yi6mCbZ5nJ
"Blatantly statist projects, such as the dismissal of self-determination struggles on China’s peripheries, justification for internal colonialism, and defense of China’s geopolitical expansion, get erroneously framed as leftist internationalist initiatives." 3/3
