A big part of this started post-Jungle Book. Disney got a lot of mileage out of Phil Harris, (he was a very well known bandleader & radio comic), & the ads for Robin Hood (1973) took pains to show Peter Ustinov, Terry-Thomas & Andy Devine, among others, were also in the cast.
