all the flowers in this design are native irish wildflowers that come into bloom around summertime:
the yellow flowers are cowslips (primula veris), the pink ones are common centauries (centaurium erythyraea), and the lilac ones are sea asters (aster tripolium).

The Mouse & her mother had had an unexpectedly nice evening. Old Fox had left a bottle of Cowslip Wine on their doorstep that morning, which they drank with a quiche aux poireaux & a salad of wild violets. After dinner, with their coffee, they watched Leslie Howard in Pygmalion.
