Winter Gnats Trichochera annulata males dancing in a group to attract females, these close relatives of craneflies fly on mild days throughout the winter - Chudleigh Knighton Heath Devon
And of course for #WorldCranefliesDay I have to post the ones that went wild! I was fortunate enough to get to see some amazing specimens from all around the world at @NHM_Diptera with @flygirlNHM & @dwhitmore79. Oh to see some of these IRL 😍

@flygirlNHM last night I stumbled upon one of those hard-to-identify #craneflies: Gonomyia dikopis, a beauty (0.5mm) from #Dominica, not seen for 50 years and that required several hours of work.
Still recovering from thinking that I had in my hands a new species @pebo22
Don't have too much time to post for #WorldCranefliesDay but have to try!!! Here are some favorite (or favourite?) specimens I took photos of during a visit to @NHM_London @NHM_Diptera - wild!
One month of Tweeting and I've made some good contacts. Now, who said Craneflies are dull? These are Comb-horns.
