I've been diagnosed with an ear disease called Otosclerosis. It's not really serious, however the treatment (surgery) has a 1% chance of leading to deafness.
It causes impaired hearing, and likely this awful zombie feeling in my head.

Charles Howard Usher (1865-1942) was a scottish ophthalmologist. Usher is known for the eponymous #Usher #Syndrome, which he described in a 1914. He based his findings on a survey of 69 individuals who suffered from visual problems associated with #deafness.
