“The Smell of Carrion”
A recent acrylic painting I did of a bunch of scavengers squabbling over a carcass of a decaying Denversaurus.
I completed this illustration in late May but held off because @TomHoltzPaleo requested to use it in the press release of a paper he worked on.
In reality, these fossils do not belong to Triceratops. They are actually 3 osteoderms from Denversaurus and a squamosal horn from Stygimoloch/Pachycephalosaurus. The squamosal in particular is identical to the back spikes on Knight's Agathaumas, which is what really convinced me
Good evening everyone! Tonight’s Dino of the day is denversaurus! Denversaurus was a nodosaur that lived during the Cretaceous period. It grew to around 20 feet in length. Its name means “Denver lizard”. See you explorers tomorrow!🤠
