My color study process
basic knowledge → train the eyes (don't use the eyedropper tool, trying to copy single/groups of colors ) → practice with simple photos → complex ones → try to adjust tones → try to add characters

*P.S More often than add colour later in the game I do all the flats first, then add those lighting layers on top.

The flats are one layer, and because they were done in the pencil tool I can eyedropper them to make a selection then paint in the layer mask

Mm!! Thank you so much for pointing this out, I never want to whitewash a character, it genuinely wasn’t my intention to make her look any lighter- I did kind of eyeball her skin tone and should have trusted an eye dropper tool more. How’s this?

On Medibang, I use quite an arsonal, but most notably, I use the magic wand tool, airbrush, gradient, the eyedropper tool, and I clip my layers when shading onto base colors. I used all of these when making Ash here just today.

Dunkelosteus cruises along with her newborn cubs, but they will disperse after their first hunt together. One of the cubs, has a dermoid cyst of armor over his eye.
This was a sort of practice without the eyedropper, so it turned out a bit monochromatic.
