The Polyphemus Moth (*Opodiphthera eucalypti*)was featured in 2 LOTR films, The Fellowship & The Return, but never in the books. The Moth appears to Gandalf as a messenger forewarning the Eagles’ arrival or else used by him to summon them.

Finally finished this giant bird, inspired by a passage from the Prose Edda: "Whence comes the wind?" "At the northern end of heaven sits a giant, who hight Hrasvelg. He is clad in eagles’ plumes, and when he spreads his wings for flight, the winds arise from under them."
