In the earlier Ganbare Goemon games, falling into water means instant death for Goemon or Ebisumaru. There is probably a joke there about drowning, but Goemon hardly goes in the water throughout the series.

Goemon, Ebisumaru, Sasuke, and Yae get all the attention, but minor and enemy characters in the games are full of charm as well. So much detail, too.

I guess Goemon and Ebisumaru finally reached their destination because I haven't seen them in a while...

Goemon’s name is in the title, but Ebisumaru is my favorite character in the Ganbare Goemon series. A truly original creation, and the series would be completely different without him.

...and a family of witches who show up as early bosses but become friends pretty quickly! (And yes, the parents are a Goemon/Ebisumaru joke.)

Wai Wai World 2 is most significant for including an adaptation of Mr. Goemon for the Famicom. Great cameo by Ebisumaru, too. https://t.co/iBIgLKDiy2

Day 2: Ebisumaru - King Dedede

Ebisumaru is from Osaka. It's a city located in the Kansai region of Japan. He speaks with a Kansai dialect, so the honoric suffix -san is sometimes pronounced as -han (i.e. "Goemon-han" instead of "Goemon-san").

Goemon is the only member of the team that's from Oedo while the other 3 originated from other parts of Japan. I'll explain in the thread below where Ebisumaru, Sasuke, and Yae are from.

On this topic of Japanese folkore legends, in the MSX2 version of Ganbare Goemon: Karakuri Dochu! the 2nd player would play as Nezumi Kozo (would later become Ebisumaru in GG2 FC). Nezumi Kozo (1797-1831) was a Japanese thief similar to Ishikawa Goemon.

Goemon and Ebisumaru will get to their destination some day...
