I kid you not, this 1954 book was in our house, and I read every inch of it again and again. Also, another book about ghosts haunting Edgehill which had great illustrations of the battle. Weird to look back on how these things get started ...

Today 23 October is the anniversary of the battle of Edgehill fought in 1642 between Royalists and Parliamentarians during the English Civil War.

Both sides hoped for a decisive victory but the battle ended inconclusive and was just the beginning of a long and bloody war!
