Good Morning Everyone
Philippe Charles Jacquet. https://t.co/2UqlfN7A7c for more
I’ve posted his work many but today I tried to find more about him. He’s inspired by the Brittany coast and estuaries. Trained as an Architect but decided to paint full time
#inktober2022day15 the giant freshwater #stingray, found in rivers/estuaries of #southeastasia and thought to be the largest #freshwaterfish worldwide with lengths up to 5 meters. They are endangered due to #overfishing, #pollution and #habitatdestruction.

Oh, #palaeophiid, you beautiful muse 😄 These prehistoric sea #serpents had a much higher metabolism than modern pythons and anacondas & roamed seas, estuaries and possibly rivers, eating who knows what, and getting who knows how big (the biggest have been estimated at 9-12.3 m!
In Visayan myths, Magwayen is the goddess of the sea who ferries the souls of the dead. I gave her the motif of estuaries (where the river transitions into the sea; death is believed to be a transition). She has the lower half of an anaconda, a sacred river-dwelling animal.
Female ba’khar are larger than males. The reverse is seen in the kurajaku. Encounters like these are uncommon, as kurajaku prefer estuaries while ba’khar are freshwater hunters, and bulls of the kurajaku are so large that they are more likely to go out to sea than further inland.

Another to my favorite ancestor of whales, Ambulocetus natans (Walking Whale). Think of it as a crocodile-otter from the early Eocene about 50 MYA. It was thought to have lived in brackish estuaries of what is now Pakistan. Illustration by Rebecca Dart. 🤓🐉
Today's #DrawDinovember isn't a dinosaur at all, but an ancestor to whales, Ambulocetus (Walking Whale). Think of it as a crocodile-otter from the early Eocene about 50 MYA. It was thought to have lived in brackish estuaries of what is now Pakistan. #Paleoart
WIP of the kurajaku, an amphibious megaraptoran that is the apex predator of Kaimere’s shallow seas, mangroves, and estuaries.

My #SundayFishSketch this week is the eastern spiny gurnard. This species is endemic to the #estuaries and coastal waters of southern #Australia. #fish #biodiversity #reefs #oceans #SciArt #scicomm
@DrFishSG @ReelAngle @SolomonRDavid @donaldorth @ericrsails @WildlifeBioGal @UWiscSeaGrant Native to rivers + estuaries of the Black Sea, the tubenose goby was first found in North America in the St. Clair River during the late 1980s/early ‘90s. It's also now found in western Lake Erie and in @LakeSuperior around the ports of Thunder Bay + Duluth #25DaysofFishmas
Another #oilpainting session with demonstrations on painting #estuaries #SueFarrington @AltyArt super images created. Thank you Sue!
The Allis Shad (Alosa alosa) is a northeastern Atlantic #fish that migrates up rivers to spawn. Its populations have been reducing due to overfishing, pollution and habitat loss, specially estuaries, where juveniles live #SundayFishSketch #scicomm #SciArt
#Mermay day 9 late: Knysna Seahorse
Also known as Cape Seahorse, they are endangered. They inhabit three estuaries in South Africa. #Mermay2018
A series of plesiosaur #paleoart for #FossilFriday: Jurassic marine species Attenborosaurus and Plesiosaurus, and the coastal/freshwater adapted Leptocleidus. It's very cool to think some plesiosaurs would be visible in rivers, lakes and estuaries.
