This week's is this 1903-05 evening dress by Jay's Limited in London. Marjorie went to London in 1902, at 15 years old, and was exposed to the height of European fashion. She wore this dress at a dance at the Naval Acadamy in Annapolis.

Today's is this 1906 Day dress by Girolamo Guiseffi. The writes that appliqued flowers are either peonies or plum blossoms and are in an Art Nouveau style. All the tucking and ruching (see close up) also make this a very expensive dress.

Today's is this 1897 evening dress by Maggie Rouff. She was a French fashion designer who was known for her unique and feminine designs. She liked to bring attention to women's faces through interesting necklines and puffy sleeves like this dress here.

These beach pajamas from 1933 would make an excellent (and stylish) alternative to modern loungewear. Made of a rayon knit the bodice has a lavender trim that matches the flared legs and tie belt. From the collections.

Today's is this 1791 wedding dress. Yes, this is a wedding dress! The mini-corset on the outside makes this look more like a Renaissance movie costume than an actual historical garment. Has anyone else seen examples like this?

Today's is this 1786-89 "redingote" or frock coat. The style was taken from men's riding coats, which gradually became acceptable everyday attire. It then creep into womenswear, where they would wear a gown or overcoat and a skirt of a contrasting color.
