Nerding out this #FlatSharkFriday with my new #diaphonised juvenile freshwater stingray (sp. Unknown) prepared by Articulated Imagination. Here's some photos of my favorite bits 😍
It's #YeOldeAnimals Friday! Today's a 1800s Guitarfish (Rhinobatos productus)!
Beautiful drawing! The attention to the nose & translucent patches adjacent is excellent! Also, the eyes & spiracles for breathing look great! Love it!

It's #YeOldeAnimals Friday! Today's a 1792 Thornback Ray (Raja clavata)!
This is a great drawing of the underside of a thornback ray! The artist captures the features like gills, mouth, & nostrils very accurately! #FlatSharkFriday

Happy #flatsharkfriday and last day of #flatsharkweek ! Giant Manta Ray, Mobula birostris. These giant rays have funny flaps near their mouths called cephalic lobes! They are filter feeders and use these large lovers to funnel plankton into their mouths. #dangcutefish

Giant devil rays (Mobula mobular) might have a secret ‘maternity ward!’
Awesome article about my most recent Mobula Ray paper & their potential new pupping ground! #FlatSharkFriday

Your "rayft" is here! Happy #FlatSharkFriday! Inspired by @DutchSharkSoc twitter of Paula Vianna photo, here is my take on "Rayft" shared ride! Riders are pink-tailed whiprays and the Rayft is small-eyed ray! @lyft @Uber #sciecomm #fishart #FishyFriday
Happy #FlatSharkFriday to the Southern Stingray (Dasyatis americana)!
They live in the Atlantic from New England to South America, create huge pits to expose their food in the sediment, & communicate to each other with pheromones! Incredible animals!
Happy #FlatSharkFriday! Ever wondered what the difference between Skates & Rays is?
A big one is that Skates lay eggs whereas Rays give live birth! Skates also tend to be smaller & lack the stinging barbs the Rays have.
Both incredible animals!
Today is #EndangeredSpeciesDay & #FlatSharkFriday. We took this as a clear sign to dedicate today to sawfish
Sawfish are 1 of the ocean's most critically endangered groups of elasmobranchs.

It's #flatsharkfriday, and I finished up this little cownose ray doodle I did recently because they are are lovely little creatures. Found up and down the western Atlantic and Caribbean, these eagle rays can be seen in massive migrating schools of up to 10,000.
Happy #FlatSharkFriday everyone! S/o to @elclimo for the awesome elasmo comics!
@Drsharkbrain @lnkdee @YTPaleo @IUCNShark @SharkAdvocates @SFUResearch @saveourseas @EDGEofExistence Note the near absence of evolutionary distinct species in the Americas... As for birds and Primates, there seems to be and underwater 'Old World' vs. "New World' for sharks and rays!
