As for aquatic dragons there are a lot! They don't fill ALL the niches and there is competition from animals but there are diving dragons that are similar to gannets, penguin-whale dragons, deep divers, fast active hunters, river/estuary/lake dependant dragons...

Jufly day 29 - Elegant

Struggled with this one...so I'm not convinced my drawing accurate portrays exactly why I like gannets, but I've always thought they were elegant seabirds. Their wing shape and markings are just so lovely.
