Drake Goosander on local pond - not a bird I see that often and the first drake I've had the opportunity to sketch.
A recent water colour of the Goosanders that were regular visitors to the river in front of our apartment this winter. The golden water a reflection of the sunlit river bank behind.
Some more sketches of the Goosander that has been a sporadic visitor to the river in front of our apartment for almost 2 months now.
The Goosander appear to have moved on unfortunately. I haven't seen the male in over a week and the female or imm was last seen early monday morning. I doubt I will have such a stunning bird from the studio window again for a long time!
I was very lucky that the Goosander returned on the dropping tide on Saturday and Sunday. It was a pleasure to be able to enjoy what is usually such a shy bird from the studio window!
First time checking new (small) @WeBS_UK sites this weekend. Managed to persuade daughter #2 @han_okon to join me for one. Highlights - Dippers x4, Kingfisher, & Goosander. In fact, all species in painting seen, plus Moorhen. Even had a beautiful rainbow :-) #birds @eastglambto
