Of course they do take some characterization from the anime (Heles and Sidra are perfect examples of this), but we also get extra scenes with them
Also, Gowasu & Rumsshi freaking out over the aftermath of Zamasu is a nice touch
This extends to Gowasu too since even he has more to do in this version
Especially after how Shin was portrayed in the Buu Saga, this is much more refreshing - even if he’s weak in comparison to others, he’s incredibly proactive, does all he can to help, and isn’t cowardly
One aspect of the manga’s Goku Black arc that I like is how involved Shin is since the beginning
He actively participates in everything and actually has more characterization than “incompetent god”
Him & Gowasu and their discussion of ideals serve as a nice antithesis to Zamasu

Let’s get this straight (because I totally misremembered before looking it up): the U12 time machine was made some unspecified point in the past. Gowasu last used his Time Ring 400 years before Zamasu became his apprentice, but neither of these events have a specific date either.
