Bunyip is an Australian Aboriginal man- eating monster that inhabits swamps & lagoons. It has a round head, an elongated neck & a body resembling an ox, hippo, manatee or human. Particularly when it resembles a human it is similar to merfolk.

The soft tissue of the lips is absolutely freaky to say it at least. The isolated tusks look surprisingly similar to those of a hippo, and there was in fact a historic case in which a severed dugong head in a shark stomach was mistaken for an out-of-place hippo head.
