Ichthyology has a new doctor: my co-mentored Camila S. Souza defended her dissertation at São Paulo State University: Phylogenomics, macroevolution & species delimitation of the subfamily Characinae. Great advances with first of five chapters coming soon! - Pic: Roeboides.
While Ichthyology & Herpetology will continue to have covers in 2022 & beyond, it is bittersweet finalizing the last printed cover for an ASIH journal.
Sadness aside, we are always proud of the new species described each year in our journal.
As usual, 2021 did not disappoint!
Ok, I really want to keep up with #FishABC. For L, we got Lasiognathus! One of the two genera of Wolftrap anglerfish, their premaxilla fold laterally to enclose the lower jaw... like a venus flytrap! Found in the Atlantic and Pacific, bathypelagic, six species #ichthyology
