When I color in my sketches, I generally use colored pencils, which is a material that I've grown to enjoy working with. I typically keep my colors flat, but I decided to try rendering the portrait and I'm happy with how it turned out.

I took a break from the works that I have going on to do a quick drawing in oil pastels. This is probably the best oil pastel drawing I've done. I really don't use them.

I think that doing charcoal drawings is what gave me my style. I'm not so much concerned with depicting myself exactly, I'm more focused on how I breakdown the face into shapes that look interesting.

As I am referencing photographs of my mother was she was younger, I'm thinking about how I can push my creations further by designing a symbol or something that represents the fact that she's no longer living.
