when I read the lore about kudan, jinjahime, amabie and many other "prophetic animal creatures", it sounds like some edo-era chain mail spam, like
"SHARE THIS PIC TO OTHER 15 VILLAGER IF YOU DON'T WANT TO CATCH <insert plague name>"
Seriously what kind of archetype/youkai category does this guys fit into anyway?
- Maria Kannon : Virgin Mary disguised as a Kannon/Guanyin
- Hitobashira : A youkai based on a ritual
- Jinjahime : A sea demon (Ayakashi)? but is the deity's servant (Celestial)????
#Karumapasta Extra : Amabie
A legendary mermaid/merman with beak mouth and three tails. They are famous for their prophecies and their imagery are said to ward off illness
They are said to be based from a similar youkai Amabiko or Jinjahime
#Karumapasta random youkai design : Jinjahime
A serpentine creature with the head of a human woman. They are the servants of Sea Dragon palace and have ability of foresight
Soon after she predicted the cholera epidemics, numerous copycat stories like Kudan and Amabie arose.
Finished my jinja-hime and kudan deli a while ago. The order has been put in so I’m excited to get them!
