The way a level starts needs to be propperly set up if you want it to work in a certain way. The heroes are more than ready for action, so they needed a snappy character entrance. This sample also includes a bit of UI design.

Even though is inspired by old school games, we tried to avoid using text and traditional intro cinematics. We had therefore to get a bit creative with the in-game resources we had in order to establish the main villain of its story.

The map was already built when we decided to add NPCs, so they were designed to fit in specific locations. It took a great deal of work, but the scenery became so full of life it was definitely worth it!

I made the curl on her head bigger and the ears now look more like cat ears and less like bat ears, I guess. When I made the first one I didn't have cats at home and now I do. So, maybe that has something to do with it.

Once again, 2019 VS. 2017. The most noticeable change this time is the tail. The original one is based on a japanese flying squirrel. The in-game sprite ended up needing a much bigger tail in order to make the character more recognizable as a squirrel.
