16-year-old schoolgirl Lena Mukhina wrote a diary about the WW2 Siege of Leningrad which began in 1941. She documented her rage and concern, her cheerfulness despite everything, the horror of starvation. The diary runs until May 1942; in June she was evacuated from the city.
