#LoboWeek Some mixed-media studies of "Mr. Goodbar", Mexican gray wolf m1888.
Mr. Goodbar has been in the news a few times recently, and his story illustrates the troubles that wild lobos face in a landscape so dominated by humans
🧵
#LoboWeek The Mexican gray wolf (Canis lupus baileyi) is a genetically distinct subspecies of gray wolf. They are the remnants of a southern gray wolf lineage that populated the Americas much earler than the ancestors of contemporary Northern gray wolves (Canis lupus).

I have a TON of Mexican wolf swag in my shop, all created as part of various charity fundraisers to help conservation efforts for these amazing animals. From patches, to pins, stickers, and prints, check out all of my Lobo stuff here! #LoboWeek https://t.co/SmF4Nh0J8P
An older watercolor piece I created for a fundraising event at @CAWolfCenter, "Sweet Caress" features two Mexican gray wolves nuzzling. Wolves are very misunderstood creatures who form strong bonds and show affection with one another, so I wanted to highlight that. #LoboWeek
I created "Evening Magic" for the @nmwild Mexican Wolf Stamp contest. I unfortunately didn't win, but there were SO many amazing entries, I'm happy I could participate. Check out all of the amazing artwork submissions here! #LoboWeek 🐺👉https://t.co/QDEpN05v9M
This wolf is one of our resident Mexican gray wolves, Zeke. He was the inspiration for this piece of artwork, titled "Lobo" by local artist @ThornwolfArt, which she has let us use as imagery for several of our events. #Lobo #loboweek
Mexican gray wolves born in breeding facilities can be released into the wild through cross fostering. Pups born in captivity are swapped with a couple of pups from a wild wolf pack. This helps to diversify the genetics in both the captive and wild wolves. #LoboWeek
It's #LoboWeek. And as promised, WOLF PUPS!! https://t.co/BjkLbATadZ
