Have I mentioned how much I love Big Barda?
(Mister Miracle #7 - J.M. DeMatteis, Len Wein, Joe Phillips, Pablo Marcos, Nansi Hoolahan, and John Costanza)
#BigBarda #BlueBeetle #TedKord

'Spider-Man and Batman' (1995)
Art by Mark Bagley
Story by J. M. DeMatteis
JM DeMatteis just KNOWS how to write the #CloneBros right and it's just the best thing in the world
also you can SEE the parallels in his writing and its so 👌👌👌
I cannot reiterate how good Ben Reilly: Spider-Man by J.M. DeMatteis is, and what a love letter it is to the character, please read this dream come true, and shining example of how to write Ben Reilly.
——there’s one thing I believe us costume loving connoisseurs have to have, get ANYMAN by J.M. DeMatteis (obviously) and David Baldeón! The latter of which penciled the brilliant Ben Reilly: Spider-Man earlier this year (also with JMD). Anyman is the superhero book of the bunch!

But it all truly falls to shit in Spider-Man 56 - which oddly enough DeMatteis had no involvement in.
Firstly we get the return of the real Gwen. Who for some reason knows Spider-Man is Peter. But is also revealed to be a Clone by the end of the issue...
ASM 398, DeMatteis and Bagley open with Peter's reaction to finding out he's going to be a father - pure unadulterated joy, literally jumping off the walls.
It's a wonderful moment, and a stark contrast to the months of dreary Peter we've been reading.
DeMatteis provides a truly fascinating deep and introspective look into Doctor Octopus's character & mind.
We see him having a crisis. He too is sick of grim brooding Spidey & knows something isn't right.
They might be enemies, but Ock has the utmost respect for Spidey
The Human Target continues to be some of the finest work by both @TomKingTK & @SavageSmallwood to date. A rollicking whodunnit detective story that also serves as a love letter to the Giffen/DeMatteis JLI. I’m eager to see how Christopher Chance’s story ends.

Curt Swan brings it in New Teen Titans #43. There's something about Swan's straightforward realism that makes horror more horrific. (See also Don Perlin's work for Defenders during the DeMatteis era.)
Today's Femboy is Haruki Lio from
Kawaisugiru Danshi ga Ouchi de Matteimasu! 🎀
Thank you J. M. DeMatteis for writing Zatanna as a powerhouse since the 80s everytime you get a chance to write her.
