Nanahuatzin, the most humble of the Aztec gods, sacrificed himself in fire so he would continue to shine on earth as the Sun, becoming a sun god in the process. He also helped to obtain the first grains, which would feed mankind. This card represents rewards and perseverance!

The Lord of Snails was the senior Lord, who leaped first, but grew afraid when he felt the extreme heat of the Spirit Fire and held back. Nanahuatzin, however, when he beheld the cowardice of the Lord of Snails, fearlessly went forward and leapt into the heart of the Spirit Fire.

The fifth sun was chosen to be the final and eternal one, he was Tecucciztecatl, his brother Nanahuatzin was chosen to be the moon, however when told to sacrifice himself Tecuciztecatl backed down and Nanahuatzin turned into the sun.
