I've always wanted to make a mega-dungeon set inside a mountain that was the site of a Nautiloid crash. Really go HAM with the formerly enslaved monsters and almost-sci-fi-horror elements.

Mind flayer spelljamming ships are nautiloids. But MFs look octopus-like, not nautiloid-like. So either MFs think nautiloids are cool and based their ships on them, or MFs are more nautiloid-like than they appear. (Hard shell, dozens of cirri-feelers, etc.)

14/ Ships cont.

Lamprey - antiquated, Psurlons are fond of them, 4 ballistae and grappling jaws 😳

Living Ship - There’s a freaking Treant part of the ship. It’s heals the ship and creates air 🤯

Nautiloid - Mindflayers. Tentacles

Orthocones were a group of chambered nautiloids that spanned a long period of time, from the Late Cambrian to the Early Triassic. There has been a long history of throwing all these under one group, such as Orthoceras or Cameroceras, but they were actually pretty varied!

Representing the nautiloids we have the Chambered Nautilus, known for its spiral that seems to emulate the golden-ratio. These buddies have been around since the Paleozoic, what do they know that we don’t?

After recently drawing the ammonite equivalent of a pizza cutter I needed to do something a but wider so here's a young Eutrephoceras dekayi, a Late Cretaceous nautiloid, chilling near a crinoid.

If you're looking for some brain blasting squids to operate their nautiloid starships, then have I got the cephalopod crew for you! 🦑🧠

When WOTC inevitably releases its Nautiloid ship how much do you think it will cost? $500+?

Time for papercrafters to step up and own that shit.

Lezi is an OC I made for BG3. I was so excited when I killed the cambion on the nautiloid. Now she runs around with a sword that is like twice her height.

Ammonoidの中身すごいね
Nautiloidの場合はより厚い貝殻が必要ので成長がAmmonoidより遅い

Ancient fish are so strange and and fascinating. Furcacauda is a Lower Devonian (400 MYA) jawless fish who's fossils were found in Canada. The eyespots I put on them are purely speculative, but that nautiloid does think it's looking in a mirror.
