He’s an Opabinia lover… not really a bug but like. It’s buglike enough to count I think

I present you a challenge - Opabinia: a small prehistoric shrimp like creature from the Cambrian.

An exciting new Welsh fossil discovery from two of our Honorary Research Fellows for 460 million year old Mieridduryn bonniae may be the youngest Opabinia-like animal ever found by over 40 million years, and the first from outside N America https://t.co/YzNxcK5u00

A new Opabinia relative has been discovered but this time in the Ordovician! Mieridduryn was found in Wales with soft tissues preserved. Its name means "bramble-snout."

If you get add in extinct fauna you also get some greats like Ornithomimus, Oviraptor, and Opabinia, which makes the case even stronger!

For my 16th birthday I figured I would remake the second piece I ever posted to DeviantArt.
Four Cambrian critters: Opabinia, Hallucigenia, Pikaia and Haikouichthys.

New version on the left, old one on the right.

Okay. One of the invert pieces I have done is outdated (Opabinia), one is VERY inaccurate (Titanokorys but it's okay) and the other is unfinished (Eromangateuthis) but it's alright. Gotta make more!

Thoughts on Which is a more plausible evolution route?

I never knew Opabinia was only 3 inches long... I thought it was one of those mega arthropods like Jaekelopterus or at least Anomalocaris... I could hold it gently in the palm of my hand...
