Emmeline Pankhurst was born today (July 15th) in 1858 into a politically active family. Her mother used to read them 'Uncle Tom's Cabin' as a bedtime story (for kids -yikes!) She successfully campaigned by her impassioned speech and her intense hunger strikes.
