Bird skull won out on the mask poll, and I started on that one - but then I decided I wanted it twice as big as I planned, so switched tracks to setting up the first part of the base for the SAO one. Detailwork and smoothing will be done with paperclay.. later.

Last leaf bouquet to clean up before I'm all but done with the first chalice. Just a few tricky repairs and touch-ups after this, and add a couple more little details. Then there are 3 more of these nightmares to finish.

Paperclay is really useful for sculpting on top of other materials. It can be sanded, so it’s is great for filling seems and fixing imperfections in rigid materials like styrofoam and worbla on props and stiff armor. No good for anything that needs to be flexible though.
