I'm a geologist currently applying to grad school to work on metamorphic petrology and isotope geochemistry related projects. I've done research on detrital zircons and their role in tectonic processes in active margins.

Within the Jack Hills quartzite are these lovely gems. Well not gems exactly, but lovely zircon crystals. And of these zircon, about 10% of these are older than 4 billion years old.
