In my effort to confirm Pokemon roles, I asked Michael Haigney who voiced Neesha and her Blastoise in the 1st film. Claiming it was Amy Birnbaum and Haigney respectively, he said " I can say with about 80% certainty that you're right: Amy and I did those voices."

Mr. Mime and Mime Jr. were both first voiced by Kayzie Rogers in the dub. However, for Diamond and Pearl's 1st season, Kayzie was absent and in her place, Michele Knotz voiced Mime Jr., which Kayzie would re-voice upon her return the next season. (cont.)

In Pokemon's 1st season , Paul Levin was one of the sound editors at Buttons Sound, before the show moved to TAJ Productions proper. Nearly 20 years later with season 20, Levin returned as the show's mixer during the Sun and Moon series.

Blaine was voiced by Michael Haigney, but according to the man himself, he only voiced Blaine when unmasked/wigged. Before that, Blaine talked with a smooth, suave voice, but the actor is currently unknown.

Aside from Seviper and Yanmega, each 'mon in Team Rocket's Sinnoh crew share a voice with one of the main four. Carter Cathcart (James, Meowth, Carnivine), Michele Knotz (Jessie, Dustox, Mime Jr.(DP01-52) ) and Kayzie Rogers (Wobbuffet, Mime Jr (DP52 - 191).

Everyone knew she loved parrots, and seeing Chatot in 2006, she knew she'd voice it if the show stayed at 4Kids. In 2008, she'd play Chatot in a Mystery Dungeon Special, marking her last appearance in Pokemon before her passing. Chatot looked just like Jake, too!

Ash's Corphish was first voiced by Maddie Blaustein - the voice was modeled after Maddie's pet parrot named Jake, who she'd watch Pokemon with at home. She wanted to find a way to get his voice in the show, and later taught him to say "Corphish". (cont.)

The writing staff felt Standards and Practices wouldn't like the words "shut up" in the title for a show marketed to kids, so to be safe, it was changed to the current name, which carried the same message without offending anyone.

Today is the 22nd Anniversary of the dub of Pokemon: The First Movie - Mewtwo Strikes Back. It released in theaters in the U.S./Canada on Friday, Nov. 12th. Coincidentally, it's a Friday today, too!

Truthfully though, the release was bumped up to Nov. 10th (cont).

15 years ago today, Pokemon: Battle Frontier debuted on Cartoon Network with Fear Factor Phony. This marked the dub switching from 4Kids back to TAJ Productions, and the proper debut of the new voice cast. Crazy how time flies, isn't it?

Pokemon's 4th Season, Johto League Champions, debuted 20 years ago TODAY with "A Goldenrod Opportunity", dropping on Kids' WB! August 18th, 2001.
The theme song featured mainly all-original animation never used in the Japanese version, too!

According to Stuart, Lewis' departure was temporary as he went to theater work, but as time went on they realized the trio was more comedic than first thought, and Stuart's take was a better fit. Still, Lewis voiced their boss Giovanni, which he still does today!

In the OG Pokerap, Mew is the one Pokemon absent. One of the rap's writers John Siegler said Mew was added, but was told by head of 4Kids Norman J. Grossfeld "you gotta take this one out". (cont.)

Returning Voices Case 2:

In S10, Kayzie Rogers took a temporary leave. Wobbuffet was voiced via archive clips, where two other Pkmn she voiced, Taillow and Lotad, were filled by other actors. Coming back in S11, she reprised Wobbuffet, but not the other two.

Today is the 67th Birthday of Carter Cathcart, whose been a part of Pokemon since day one. OG voice of Gary Oak, Prof. Oak, James and Meowth since Season 9, and a trove of others. Also been a scriptwriter since Season 5 and has contributed to a few soundtracks!
