The Razorbill is an under-appreciated auk, overshadowed by puffins. I love puffins, but razorbills are also strikingly beautiful and whimsically adorable, with their laboured flight, those little feet sticking out behind them and the way they bounce off the tops of waves!

Birds make eggs in many colours & patterns. One reason is camouflage. Many birds produce speckled eggs that blend in & hide them from predators.
Birds with white eggs often lay in holes, such as puffins, owls, and woodpeckers. They are hidden so no reason to make coloured eggs.

Returned from holiday trip to northern Norway. Saw many wonderful wild things but the absolute highlight was the bird isle of Hornøya. What a magnificent place. Puffins, guillemots, razorbills, eagles and more. and so many of them. I wanna go back there.
