In this finished peice, the background is very overdone. The halftoning and coloring is too similar to the character, making the pallate too samey and ubiquitous. The lighting is very simple but without the white accents the linart would easily become muddled and lost in the bg.
@CaptAnaugi if we're being frank, box art and movie posters tend to be very design-by-focus-group. there's a reason game boxes tend to be as samey as they are, and for every mediocre box there tends to be 3 or 4 good concepts that get scrapped or repurposed as an alternate sleeve

@Smv_of_Heroes TBH I moreso prefer Classic's artstyle because the designs werent all a basic humanoid base with a watered down art style. Classic had a certain original style to it whereas UAF just felt very samey along with some very questionable design changes

@zoomer_boomerr I wish a lot of shows had more variation in styles and tone but a lot of modern shows are very samey
A couple looking similar is fine
But when most shows now look to alike I think it doesn't stand out to much from each other
