Sometimes a limited palette can be really useful. It may look "colorful", but it's really just... green. Open it in PS and look, more or less one shade. The variation that makes him live is saturation.

I'm seeing the direction my art is taking and although Im happy with the progress I'm making, I really want to try and learn how to do a softer shading with less saturation. I'll get there one day ^^

Black overlay doesnt just make it darker like multiply, it also increases the saturation. Same for White, it reduces saturation

This is a quick way to just "feel" something out. You can also do this with colours to be like "I need it more...blue" or something.

I normally go to grey scale and switch back to color and repeat when designing my characters if I think the colors maybe too similar in color in grey scale, I'll change the brightness and saturation.

I got to complain about it, I'm sorry. But this is honestly the biggest disappointment of a Pokémon. It's literally just Pawmo with higher saturation. They look like a generic Deviantart Oc of the mon they evolve from.

🤷‍♂️ Slight variation between 1 and 2 despite it being the same image so it could be the saturation. Either way not that big of a deal, I was going off the first official figure that initially revealed the colours. Same line also revealed zoan kaido and yamato which ended up true

I slowly added more colors to my limited palette and learned more about mixing, controlling your values and saturation...

... and was honestly having so much fun! The thing about learning to paint better: Suddenly, you can translate what's in your (weird) mind to paper! 😄

I would be nowhere with my art if I didn't use my scribble coloring. The benefit that the scribbles provide is that I can use super bright colors, but then break them up to avoid too much oversaturation.

whether I shoot film or digital my final step is in Lightroom. I will adjust contrast exposure & saturation. I will never use masking. the double exposures always exist entirely & fully interact with each other. These are just my rules - not judgements - limitations are crucial.

Apparently I've painted the wrong way all my life: Shadow=less saturation. Light=more saturation.
It's the exact opposite of what I do! Could somebody tell me if it's really like this?
