Wyrd Wed explores death this week. So let’s visit the German children’s book, ‘Struwwelpeter,’ or ‘Shockheaded Peter,’ of 1845. Tortuous amputation happens to the unruly Peter -ie for sucking his thumb -by the Scissorman! Hoffman’s book still frightens 😱#WyrdWednesday

today i learned that Scissorman, the infamous villain from Clock Tower (SNES), is taken directly from Der Struwwelpeter, an 1845 German children's book by Heinrich Hoffmann

Hoffmann's version, literally called The Scissor-Man, would snip the thumbs of children who sucked on them

The Scissorman theme song from the PS1 Clocktower will always hold a special place in my heart for being one of the first video game tracks to push me into full panic mode as a kid.

The door flew open, in he ran,
The great, long, striped-legged scissorman.

If you've ever been to one of my streams, you know I grew up with horrifying German children's books, and it was only a matter of time before I'd draw some JoJo version of them. Original is below!

The concept of this Scissorwalker for is based on the ScissorMan. And I added "her sad-fate" to it.
