Story goes that Kojima's son was a fan of the BN series, leading to a cameo appearance in 4 and a link-based crossover in 5 (which is super fun!). As Shinbok was only in Japan the content in 6 was cut entirely.

Shademan.EXE and Count of Groundsoaking Blood were perfect fits.

YASHAHIME THEORY

The Goshinboku, as a tree that allows to travel through time, is itself without time. Inside it there’s no time and space but an infinite cosmic void. The butterfly disintegrates before going in and Rin hasn’t got older for 14 years.

The girl in the tree is actually Kagome!! She is trapped in the Goshinboku. This probably explains the reason why Inuyasha is facing the tree in the Yashahime poster and why Kikyo appears as a spirit in the next episode.
