Steps 1 and 2: sketch and block-in. I am a very, very messy sketcher, and my typical sketches for clients takes 2 passes to preserve their sanity. Here's my messy early steps in full glory. I wanted the painting to be dark, thus started value block-in from a dark grey.

I'm a pretty messy sketcher, so usually I'm not too happy with how the line art on my digital sketches turn out, but I think that the colours on these make up for the messy lines. ❤

Experimented with workflow today. The idea was write steps, estimate times and set timers for steps. Steps were write ideas, AI thumbnails with Artbreeder, 3D sketch, 2D draw-over, refine 3D, feed through fotosketcher, and paint.
