Soooo as much as I dislike doing action scenes, I really like experimenting with the speedlines and coloring.

Reading the Flash tie book for the movie, it's not the worst thing ever but here a criticism I'm going to level at it, it really should do the speed after image trick artists used to convey motion because while speedlines help they are not the only tool you have.

was thinking, what exactly is not there for me with this sketch and i guess it was just a bit tame, bland and unreadable
bolder speedlines def solve some of this issues

My favorite tip is with speedlines - I love adding a little bit of these motion "cones/spikes" to add a little extra motion where speedlines fall through. Alternatively the blur tool is great for a quick speed effect!

Hey umm, just wanted to ask some you for some advice, how do you draw the speedlines of a character? As in when the action happens so fast that the body lineart smudges? Like do you draw the full sketch /lineart and then add the smudge lines or is there a way to it? example:

I just made this to explain coloring behind speedlines.

working on ideas for my goblin slayer art as a shirt graphic, which looks better?

left has more blacked out areas which looks pretty epic on dark fabrics

right has less shadows for more color, w/ some speedlines thrown in for a little extra detail

Need some feedback - do you think this needs speedlines/more motion lines or is the action obvious already??? 🤔🤔🤔

Here we have the real, genuine Turtle, Kirby! Because he loves to jump into the battle (like the TMNT did in the original Tournament Fighters game) I figured that speedlines would be appropriate. Luckily, there was a nice sequence in the game's story mode intro!

Escaflowne also had nice small parts of the backgrounds turning into speedlines on this running scene.

Escaflowne was Kazuki Akane first series as a director and impressive feat.

gen 8: modern anime aesthetic! smooth linework, feels digitally drawn, minimal use of speedlines in favor of using shapes for smears
