I started adding layers on color mode and overlay, the key here is to not overdo it. It's all about the subtleties, In this case I lowered the opacity on the layers so my cold base tones still come through. Then, I changed the color on the dragons eyes to make it more dramatic.

There is very little that I get more satisfaction from than wrangling complex textures and abstract shapes.
I never know when starting out how I am going to solve the challenge of and in finding painterly solutions to the subtleties of physical fabrics, objects, hair and skin.
I often compare it to Shinichirō Watanabe’s
Cowboy Bebop & Samurai Champloo
with its subtleties, pacing, cinematic scope, etc.
How we really don’t know that much
about the characters’ backgrounds.
How other characters come and go
cause that’s how life is.
There is something about the manga version of Toori that hits harder than his anime counterpart.
Not to say that the anime is bad , but the manga does a really excellent job at portraying the subtleties of his character in a way the anime could not.
