Progress on this male figure swimming. The dark diagonal going right to left is the shadow from the lane divider. The white pencil grid here is vital as this line has to be in the right place.

Going to leave Siren Song to dry now before the third and final fix. Everything pretty much in the right place. It just all needs refinement to really make it sing.

Progress on Siren Song. I have painted this beautiful stripey costume many times (an old one!)but it’s still a challenge. I will need to go back and have another go. Not quite there yet.

For those of you following progress on the sinkhole swimmer - here are the legs! They are a bit ghostly as the light is washing out the skin tone to a very pale grey/pink with sharp green/brown undershadows.

Seeing as this large commission is going to an engineer I though I would try and leave some of the mechanics exposed. As much as possible anyway. It’s always a balance between what you put in and what you leave out.

Yes, I am depicting the surface of the water but also the pattern of the light on the pool floor underneath. Trial and error. 🤨#swimmingart
