2014 vs 2023

"Talent" is perceiving one's skill, but disregarding all their effort.

I don't believe in talent.

In 2012, age 18, I drew the one on the left. Not really talented, right? It's honestly embarrassing for someone that age to be that shit at drawing.

But last year I drew the one on the right, and that would qualify as "talent", but it's just practise!

Apparently I was branded a "Yugioh talent" the other day

I need a tag "no skill no talent" 🤪

10 - toast feathers
sonas count for this prompt bc i say so. toast is a pegasus with a knack for baking, though his actual "talent" is being able to make the perfect slice of toast every time. very goofy and chill, would much rather spend time on his hobbies than his actual job.

I could go on a year-long rant about why I dislike the word "talent", but I'll spare everybody from that! Instead, here's proof that I wasn't born good at art.

It's all about commitment and discipline rather than anything having to do with "natural talent"

Nobody is just "born with talent", you have to work for it. There have been so many times where i just wanted to give up but i kept going and i still keep learning to improve more

my ass. More like "Minimum skill and still no talent".

is smth i always tell my friends and loved ones. I know most of the people , mean it in a nice way , but imagine all your effort and time you spend get boxed in a more negative phrase ,,Oh you have talent". No Karen, i sat my fat ass down and trained the hell out

I've been drawing literally my entire life. I can't stand when people call it a "talent" when they see my work. 2003 vs 2022

It's hard for me to show clear examples of since my primary mediums & style have completely changed over the years. But make no doubt about it: it's ALL practice.
Practice + Time = "Talent"

It takes years to get to this point, and it's tiresome to hear it's just "talent"

"Talent" is pretty much just doing the same thing repeatedly, the more we do, the better we get. 😃

I don't actually think the word "talent" precludes skill. But also I agree that art is learned, not inborn.

I don't know the dates on these but here, have a time lapse.

Never compliment an artist, writer or any other creator for their "talent" there's no such thing in existence, it's hard work, lots of time and passion for what one is doing.

I'm sure "talent" was invented by the lazy. They want to make excuses for not doing anything

But I've also heard from my family that I have no talent,so I shouldn't devote my life to drawing. You're helping me prove to myself that this isn't true. ❤️

2012 to 2022. It's discipline. Practice. Learning. No "talent" about it, every artist works their ass off to get where they are! There's no magic artist gene that makes you instantly good at drawing.
