Project:Tepui is an odd book (I can say that - it’s mine)! Inspired by Conan Doyle, and with creature designs influenced by a eclectic mixture of modern scientific thinking and the retro dinosaurs of my childhood. If that sounds like your kind of “odd” see below for details (1/2)

And then there's the Mammoth Cube Beetle. Yes, really. This guy is a large stag beetle that is common on the tepui. It was lucky enough to appear in the Forests piece.

I realise I never posted my entries for the Lost World challenge here, so now I will fix that. First up, here's the Tepui Dodo, a large primarily ground-dwelling pigeon that inhabits the forests and plains of the tepui. Can be seen in the Forests piece of the final project. https://t.co/MLymGIf8Jz

Gone Fishing. Azureraptor zoica and Halszkaraptor aquilus are just two of the many species found near the rivers that flow across the tepui plateau. Learn more about them in my new book, Project:Tepui. See reply for details. (1/2)

New painting for the Project:Tepui book. With huge thanks to who commissioned this one. A male saurornithoides makes use of the low afternoon sun to put on an impressive display.

Well we took a pop last night thanks to permission from use of image of T-Rex from project Tepui.

How it started:
How it ended:
approx. dimensions H27 x W12 x L43cm

*I suspect mine is bordering more towards Rex from Toy Story?

Tiny pterosaurs swarm like flies around Tepui’s giant herbivores. This painting for the book was done over the Christmas period. Bonus points if you can spot the little seasonal reference..? 😉

Pygmy Caenagnathus - like Caenagnathus, but smaller! From the Project:Tepui book.

A new denizen of the lost plateau of Project:Tepui. Commissioned by a Kickstarter backer, this isn’t based on an actual dinosaur, but instead combines elements of several species, with a generous sprinkling of whimsy on top. 🦖

If you’re really, really old, like me, you might remember the Dino Riders toys of the 1980s. Well, the Monoclonius was the inspiration for this commissioned painting for the Project Tepui book.

Cetiosaurus.
A painting from my upcoming book “Project:Tepui”. An intentionally out-dated reconstruction of this sauropod dinosaur, in keeping with the book’s retro-aesthetic. (I’m adding that disclaimer to pre-empt the palaeo-police. Because I’m tired.)

A outing for this pair. Painted for the Project:Tepui book, which will be out next year.

Some of the retro-style Tyrannosaur designs for my book, PROJECT:TEPUI (on Kickstarter now).
The final design might be one of these... or it might end up being something completely different. I wonder if has a favourite?

(2/4) The dinosaur designs are inspired less by contemporary palaeontology, and more by the monster movies of the 1950s and 60s. No feathers, and lots of dragging tails! Some more up to date touches are also included, making the dinosaurs of PROJECT:TEPUI just a little different.

A short thread about my new book, PROJECT:TEPUI which is on Kickstarter right now. The book documents an imagined 1930s expedition to the jungles of South America, in search of Dinosaurs. (1/4)

Hadrosaur Evolution, from sketch to final.
This big Cretaceous cow features in PROJECT:TEPUI, my new book which launches on Kickstarter... *checks calendar and panics* ... TOMORROW!!!
