Yesterday, I received the Thangka Longevity Buddha from དགེ་ལེགས། Gele Khenpo. This thangka is a digital work by a Tibetan monk artist.

From what I could observe, there is no specific "rule" on what you can do in a Thangka, but there are some more frequent depictions, like Budas, and the Samsara wheel.
